What is IP Address?

An IP(Internet Protocol) Address is the Internet Address that your computer gets as soon as it gets online. Once you request information (a website for example), it is delivered to that IP address where your computer is waiting to receive it.

How to find your IP address in Windows ME, 2000, XP?

1) Click on the Start Menu, then click on Run.
2) Type in the word CMD and click OK. This will bring up a black box (or DOS Prompt.)
3) In the black box type "ipconfig" without the quotation marks, then press enter.
    This will bring up a list of information that includes your IP address.

How to find your IP address in Windows 95 and 98?

1) Click on the Start Menu, then click on Run.
2) Type in the word CMD and click OK. This will bring up a black box (or DOS Prompt.)
3) In the black box type "winipcfg" without the quotation marks, then press enter.
    Your IP Address will be listed in there and it will look like something similar to
    64.185.61.68

If neither of these work you can go to http://whatismyipaddress.net/ and that will tell you what your IP address is.
